As both a licensed clinical psychologist as well as a certified school psychologist, Dr. Winokur has a unique understanding of both the educational and psychological components impacting children and adolescents. She specializes in working with children and adolescents contending with a variety of challenges some of which include depression, anxiety, loss, medical conditions, academic stress, life transitions, divorce/family conflict, low self-esteem, and trauma. Also, she has expertise in working with children struggling with learning disabilities as she worked as a psychologist at the Gateway School of New York. Her approach is interpersonal and integrative and she utilizes play therapy, talk therapy, or a combination based upon the individual needs of the child or adolescent. Her goal is to create a safe space for children and adolescents to explore and understand their feelings and to develop a broader range of coping skills in order to manage their emotions and behaviors. She believes that including parents in the treatment of children is an integral part of the process. She works collaboratively with her patients to increase their self-esteem, improve social and family relationships, modify behaviors, and make positive life changes.
